Bandar Seri Begawan, Tuesday, 12 May 2026 – The Brunei Intellectual Property Office (BruIPO), Attorney General’s Chambers today organised a seminar entitled “From Kitchen to Brand: Unlocking Intellectual Property Value in the F&B Industry” at the Golden Jubilee Hall, Law and Courts Building. The seminar brought together entrepreneurs, food and beverage business owners, startups and members of the public to raise awareness on the importance of intellectual property (IP) in building, protecting and growing businesses within the F&B sector.
The programme highlighted how intellectual property goes beyond logos and trademarks, and plays an important role in areas such as branding, customer loyalty, recipes, business processes, collaborations and franchising opportunities.
The first session entitled “More Than a Logo: Building a Memorable F&B Brand that Customers Crave” explored the importance of brand identity, storytelling and packaging in creating a strong and recognisable F&B brand. The second session, “The Secret Sauce: Protecting Recipes, Processes and Know-How” focused on safeguarding valuable business information including recipes, supplier lists, operational systems and trade secrets. The seminar concluded with the third session entitled “Turning Taste into Revenue: Monetising Your F&B Intellectual Property”, which discussed opportunities for businesses to expand through licensing, franchising and strategic collaborations.
Through initiatives such as this seminar, BruIPO continues its efforts in promoting greater awareness and understanding of intellectual property as an important business asset and a driver of innovation, creativity and economic growth in Brunei Darussalam.
